Belarusian Fine Art Photographer
Ана Жук · А.Ж.
Ana Zhuk is a Belarusian fine art photographer based between Belarus and Tbilisi. Her photography, video, and performance work treats the human figure not as an individual, but as a form — a vessel for universal experiences of identity, belonging, and the search for self. Working primarily in high-contrast black and white, in the visual lineage of Tarkovsky and Lynch, her images are simultaneously intimate and archetypal.
Her practice draws from diary-based observation and personal histories, frequently engaging biblical themes — exile, return, the body's connection to earth. She has exhibited at the Goethe-Institut Tbilisi (2023), the New Platform Tbilisi (2025), and at independent spaces in Belarus and Georgia since 2022. Her professional work has included photo curation for cross-disciplinary projects, workshop facilitation, and art direction for the RIA KEBURIA Foundation in 2025.
She is represented in the United States by Brett Sanders. Limited edition prints, music commissions, editorial work, and gallery inquiries are available through this site.
Ana works across photography, video performance, and personal narrative. Her photographic work centers on portraiture and the figure — bodies and faces in stark, contemplative settings, treated as forms rather than as individuals. The visual language draws from European art-house cinema, particularly the work of Andrei Tarkovsky, and from American surrealist film traditions including David Lynch.
Recurring themes include identity, displacement, the body's connection to earth, and the personal becoming archetypal. The work emerged from and continues to be shaped by her movement between Belarus and Georgia — two cultures, two languages, two political climates.
Beyond photography, her practice extends into video work — including the ongoing music-and-visual collaboration DEAD SELF with Brett Sanders, performance documentation, and dance — and into curatorial and teaching work in Tbilisi's cross-disciplinary creative community.
